I do! all a helmet does is allow an open casket or a good mind with a real broken body. Yes they do work well at 40 mph and under after that its a crap shoot. I known and seen people die with and without.
No I don't ride with a plugged tire

I've been riding with a plug in my helmet for years...no problem! lol

Go to the Dunlop.com and read what they say. They put a couple limitations on after repair and voided warrenty. Only internal patch. NO plugs. Plugs are just for emergency use only. I would bite the bullet and replace it unless all did was in town 35mph stuff. You would be better off with the nail left in over a plug.
