Default Finishing up cam install

I finishing up a cam install, and need some guidance. I have the bottom end all buttoned up and I'm re-using the stock pushrods. The cams are SE 255. I have the rear at TDC compression (checked several times). When I go to put the rocker assy back in, it seems the PRs are too high. Ratcheting down the bolts according to the FSM (1/4 turn cross pattern until done) makes me nervous since about 3/4 of the way down the pushrods stop spinning freely.

Do the lifters need to bleed down? FSM doesn't say anything about that.

A couple pics for reference:

(Exhaust looks higher, it's an illusion, they are the same)

yes thats the purpose for doing that. If you wait a few minutes they will free up. Just make suree you have the right pushrods in the right places one is longer than the other I think the black one is the exaust

Thanks. I'm just afraid of bending something in the valve train.

I think they bled down. I can turn them fairly easily now, they are still snug though. Done for tonight, will do the front cylinder tomorrow.
