Another thing to consider is legal action. Let's say the guy wrote a ticket for the helmet and let you go. You then get into an accident and hurt a pedestrian, and yourself. Because he let you go, his *** is on the line (along with his job). He acted the way he did because of lawyers, and this personal injury obsessed nation.
the cop sucks because of making me tow it, he even told me he was working until 9 and wanted to see me ride it with that helmet. im just saying, towing it instead of letting me push it off the highway? come on
im sorry maybe i should have put the towing of my bike first, i thought i emphasized i understood i was breaking the law by the hangers and the helmet. just the not letting me push it off the road is what pisses me off, and wanting to take it to impound.
In NY your arms cant be above your shoulders but as stated in another thread most cops dont mess with harleys. The whole thing of laws being made to prevent YOUR safety is retarded. Lets face it... we're riding automobiles with no protection at all... in an accident at 35mph and your going to be pretty messed up... 55 miles an hour and you might die... 70+ your basically eating out of a tube for the rest of your life or dead. Motorcycles are dangerous no matter what way you look at it be it apes or drag bars. You could be the best and safest rider and someone else could end up killing you b/c of their stupidity.
We can ride motorcycles with no protection yet you get a ticket in NY for not having a seatbelt driving a car?? To me helmets shouldnt even be a law bc it's your life at risk.

If he gave you a ticket, then he has no liability for your stupidity...

The cop is a royal DICK... im with you man.
chances are his ol' lady got spanked by a biker while he was looking at bikers pass by on the highway.
So while commuting the 100 miles from our main office the other day I got pulled over by a state trooper. I was just pimping along under the speed limit by about 5 mph, all of a sudden the blue lights. Pulled over asking the reasoning behind pulling me over (which I knew was either the skid lid or the bars). It was the bars, Been riding with 16" apes for a few months now and finally got the ticket, the bad thing was I had the non DOT helmet on so he wouldnt let me ride with it. But the douche wouldnt even let me push the bike off of the highway, and made me get a tow truck, luckily I knew someone close by and the tow only cost me 175, other wise he told me he was impounding it because he didnt want to wait for someone to bring me a helmet. I knew I was riding dirty, and I knew the law prior to this, but come on, let a guy atleast push the bike off of the highway instead of making him call a tow truck.
And they wonder why they have such a bad wrap..What a piece of sh@T..
I have a few buddies that are cops and they would be on the same page as me!
It cracks me up when government tries to protect people from themselves. Honestly, if you want to put your health in danger by riding with a non DOT helmet,
go ahead. What's next? .
