I've been tracking my mileage pretty closely on my EFI Heritage. I'm getting right at 43 mpg around town which is on spec. I just got back from a 300 mile ride and mid-way I was getting... 43 mpg. The big difference is I had my wife on the back of the bike. I was expecting around 48 mpg. Would the extra rider cause the difference?
FYI: My '05 Heritage (95CI) with 1900 miles on it is very consistant (1 up) at 45 or 46 MPI. Most miles are in the Black Hills, SD, admittedly, where I do not average a high speed. I'm satisfied.
Sorry Clammy that I don't have any concrete ideas about why your mpg is what it is. My Springer, at highway speeds usually get between 49 - 52. The other day I had to go to the HD place and get my service job done. I was bucking a heavy wind going over and coming back. My mpg dropped to 46.3. I'm not complaining, because I didn't buy the bike for its mpg, I just bought it because I wanted it. I was wondering if your low mpg could be from the way that the bike is setup?
