I just bought a 2011 FatBoy Lo. Love the bike.
Only thing I'm not happy with is the exhaust, Sounds like a Honda with an exhaust leak. Want to put a black 2 into 1 full exhaust system. Not looking for very loud ( wife rides on back ) just looking for more of a Harley sound.
I know I will have to put a Stage 1 kit which is not a problem.
Any tried and tested ideas would be helpfull.
This is my new Fat Boy Lo 2011 i bought a few months ago.
I feel the same way about it's sound. I bought a set of Patriot Pipes which should be installed by tomorrow. I hope they sound as good as the reviews I found. One feature that seemed interesting about these pipes is that you can control the sound to noisy or quiet.
I have the same bike but silver I color. Its definitely a bnadass bike. I was riding earlier and I thought the same thing. I have a set of bourget headers which are being powder coated

When I got mine I was pretty ticked off when my father in law rode up on his sportster 1200 that sounded perfectly Harley-ish and my fatty hummed like a honda (couple of years ago). I put vance and hines big radius 2-1 and some different cams in...now it lopes some and sounds nice and throaty...but dang that carbed sportster sure lopes nice.
I am on my second set of black pipes the first set lasted a few months before they started to rust. I caused waves for the manufacturer and got new pipes. The new pipes lasted exactly 13 days (yes 13 days) before they started to turn to crap. Less than a month after having the second set of pipes installed there are signs of rust.
The manufacturer has promised me that they are aware of the problem and have changed the process and I will receive the new and improved pipes. I am taking them at their word but I have my doubts.
If I were to have a do over I would get chrome Thunderheaders with black heat shields.

this was my choice from Dr. V-Twin. Great pipe and great sound. with the B motor, it will Never lope like a 1200. . . but crank it on and it will 'Git R Done'
