I'm shedding the Willie G derby cover for a chrome smoothie. I picked one up from a member for $10, but it's the old style that has the groove for the O ring type gasket. Mine has the pancake flat gasket. Can I use this cover with flat gasket?

I change derbys more than most, probably once every 1 to 2 months because I have quite a few and adding more (just for fun). I use the flat gasket for all of them, old style and new with no issues. I didn't ask If this was correct, I just do it. Works so far bro.

Thats the route I'm taking. See how it works. Thanks
i had a conversation with my dealer about this - i think this is the story for 07-later:
Hd part=o-ring, aftermarket=flat.
It worked that way when i bought my steal your face derby..
the flat gasket works for both...more the likely the h/d guy will sell you the flat even though you ask for the o ring. I have seen 'em do it time and again...
