The kit on their site looks to have the solid pieces in the springs still.
Parts wise, I see a very basic heavy gauge spun fender, basic solo seat & springs with a very simple front & rear mount (the rear mount shouldn't be necessary if you're willing to drill 2 holes), plug in run/brake turn module to eliminate the fender mounted brake light, some red lensed turn signals and a side plate mount.
Making fender mounts, seat pan to cover the battery and a side mount license plate mount is hardly a metric buttload of fab.
So here's the deal boys and girls- I am VERY happy with my Heartland EZ 200 fender kit, but just lately I've been seriously craving HL's softail bobber kit for my Train. I am thinking that if I were to be able to sell it for exactly what I'd need for the bobber kit, I'd be perfectly happy.
Think this could work? Opinions?
IMO bobbers are not too comfortable to ride. Least my buddy who has one is good for running around town but that is about it. I would try to find a used sporty and bob that thing out. My brother is in the middle of building a bobber for around town.
I'll ride my bike any distance. It's more comfortable than the Bare Bones and air ride that use to be on it. My only issue is carrying gear, but won't be once I mock up a sissy bar.
First of all, I'm already running a sidemount license plate bracket and Kuryakyn mini bullets which can be easily moved... secondly, Heartland's set up is bolt on- no fab work needed. My 08 Train has the bolt-on struts. No hacking needed. And thirdly, I doubt the springer seat will be any more uncomfortable than what I'm currently running. I'm not doing 500 mile rides, ffs. I know what my bike is- a bar hopper that can be extended for day trips and such.

Hey man, I hope what I posted didn't rub you the wrong way. I'm just a regular broke-*** that likes the feeling I get when I say "I made it" when I'm asked where I bought such & such kit from. I apologize. Didn't mean to bust your *****.

dude if you have the skills to make stuff like that, do it and sell them!!!
i can guarantee you if you come out with a "bolt on" bobber or chopped fender kit cheaper than HL's prices you wont be a broke *** anymore
i know i've been looking for one cheaper than HL's
i'm a software geek so i never really appreciated the craftsmanship that goes into metal work, that was until i tried to chop a used fender i bought for cheap and tought "this can be that hard" holy **** was i wrong... i now have a newfound respect for people that do their own stuff.
now i know why i dont work with my hands, well i do, but on a keyboard LOL.

Nah, no worries. It's just that I'm not at all mechanically inclined and stand in awe of guys that can do all their work. It was challenging for me just to get my chin spoiler on!
That being said, I'm more than willing to pay a bit extra to get something that fits and is quality- Heartland.
For what you get in the kit, it is overpriced. But for having all the hardware in one package that you can put on, in one evening. To me it was worth the big mark up. Plus living in Germany now, made it easy to order all the stuff from DR. Vtwin and have it all arrive in one package.
