WTF! 57 miles and it dies!
[QUOTE=Wabbit;8373675]Hey all, thanks for the info. Here is the update. The dealership has the bike up and pulled apart and their best guy looking at it. He wouldn't tell me what he thinks is wrong because he is still going over it. But my salesman said that is seems like the oil pump wasn't getting oil to all parts of the engine, though there was still a couple oz of oil in the engine. Specifically, the top was "kind of dry" and the metallic noise I heard was probably the valves running dry. He said it didn't seize, and still starts, which I guess I should have mentioned here earlier. He said that it looks like it came from the factory with less oil in that section than it was supposed to have.

One would think that a dealer would check to make sure all oil levels and tire pressure is where there supposed to be. Isn't that part of what dealers do when they charge $500 or so for set up fees on new bikes.
Urs Still a couple oz's of oil in the motor.... holly chit.. and then they say the top end was kinda dry... that's an understatement If I've ever heard one....
Lets see,,,, takes 3 1/2 qts,,, thats thats 112 oz's needed and they're saying it had a couple oz's..
The head tech at the dealership is supposed to be pretty good and has been going over the bike continually the last two days. He called and told me that they are ordering a brand new engine to install.
I asked him what was wrong with it and he says they haven't been able to track down what is wrong. The oil pump works but the engine is not getting oil pressure. He said based on the amount of money it would cost him to keep looking for the problem, they were just going to put in a new motor.
So that makes me feel better about the future of the bike, even if I'll be without it for a bit. Though I do wonder, how do you know if you are really getting a brand new motor or a rebuild? I don't think this dealership would do something like that, just wondering.
Although, according to Moriarty, I should probably have been born knowing these things.
On that note moriarty, maybe you should keep your assenine opinions to yourself. This forum is to help people out and encourage our peers on the success of our bikes. Most of us work very hard to get these great looking bikes we ride. My guess is you are a trust fund baby that hasn't paid for a thing in your life and sponge off society or your parents as much as you can. This is usually how spoiled a$$holes act. If that is how you are going to act maybe you should create your own forum for a$$holes with Harley's that think they are cool, then you can be the head DI%K!!!
I also might add, the guy you are clownin happens to be in the military, fighting over seas to protect the freedoms that you enjoy everyday that allow you to do such things like run your mouth on forums like this!!! If it were me I would think twice about the stuff you say on here!!
With that said.. Wabbit, I wish you the best of luck, all you can do is wait to see what happens. The bike is under warranty and I doubt the dealer will screw you. Just hang in there and see what happens. I would ask for a loaner bike though, most places will at least do that for ya so you have something to ride.

Plus one and on a added note from a prior military member I am sure he could tear down a M16 and put it back before you could load it and if your lucky he would take his one shot to you. It is unfortunate people want to bash instead encourage. We all have our talents and our down falls. What makes a good man (or person to be pc) is to help those who are trying to learn from their down falls or lack of luck. We all were in Wabbit's shoes at one point, it is called learning. I do have to say for the most part this forum is a great resource to learn from. With that said I wish you luck Wabbit. Sounds like things are going to work out, a little frustrating yes, but I believe you will learn from this. Thank you for your service and sacrifices.
