Really torn. Bought my 05 Deluxe and have been happy but everytime I see a Wide Glide or Night Train go by I feel like I made a bad call. Decided since most of my 1.5 hour commute each way is at 55+ I really need that 6th gear. New bike time!
Dillema though is I like a soft tail but the Blackline is the closest thing to what I like. By the time I do the handlebars, wheels and stage 1 and exhaust it gets crazy. A Victory will cost me 8k less
The Blackline gas tank annoys me as well. Its like I cant even get an HD thats perfect if I do spend the money.
Any rumors on anything else for the softails? I like the smaller front tire vs Fat boy look and feel. My heart wants to stay HD but my eyes and wallet really like Victory much more : o
If you like the victory, go with it. Have you considered a used night train? Plenty out there with the 6 speed. You could also find one with some of the mods done maybe?
If you get the vic, to get it to look like a night traing your gonna be looking at new tins, new pipes, new air cleaner, new bars, seems more pricey to me bro
Yeah, 6th started in '07. I agree that you should look around for a used on if you want to stay HD, BUT, if you're not happy with what you find, and you see a Victory that you like, then buy it. I know a few guys that have them and like them very much. I've seen a few that I wouldn't mind having myself, just not more so then my Heritage. Follow your heart my man...
You're really "needin'" that 6 speed eh? It's a shame your motor isn't. Check the gas milage of the 6 speed owners on here, it's the same or worse than your short stroke 88" or 95" bike.
And if you're riding that far every day, ( like I do,) consider the fact that with an 07 6 speed you get a stroked motor with the cheapest cast crank HD ever put in a bike. Your 5 speed bike has a cold forged ( stronger, ) crank.
Search the problems the 07 and later guys are having: "Scissored crank," " Crankshaft problems" "Compensator issues"...there's a zillion of 'em.
But if you're hot-to-trot for a 6 speed, perhaps consider an upgrade for your bike, ( or any other 5 speed model that you're interested in.)

My 2 cents...
Harley hasn't put a forged crank in a bike since 2002 . And there are plenty of people who are running 107" motors on a stock crack, with zero problems . Jamie from fuel moto says that the stock Harley crank of today is good up about 120 lb/ft of torque . I have heard of no scissoring, and in stock trim a 96" twin cam will get 50mpg .
Check this out . This has 2500 miles on it, and all ready has the swept pipes stage 1 a/c and Victory reflash . it was used as a demo bike and come with a brand new title and warranty . Pretty good deal, IMO.... http://www.ridefps.com/new_vehicle_d...16&pov=1955682
