Install was pretty easy except for the muffler support fasteners which are just hard to access but doable with some patience and banged up knuckles. First run out I got some annoying popping on decel and when disengaging the clutch.
I emailed Rush tech support and they came right back with this...

"Decel popping with the 1.75” baffles is most commonly caused by an exhaust leak. RUSH Exhaust is manufactured using 16-gauge steel, which is much thicker than stock and requires 65 ft.lb. of torque. To check for an exhaust leak, here is an east method. Start the bike and while it is idling, light a wooden match and blow it out. Immediately place it close to the connection of the muffler and the head pipe. If the smoke sucks inside the exhaust, you have a leak. It is best to do this in a garage where there is not any wind. You may also find it easier to use a cigar, cigarette, incense stick, etc."

Since the softail service manual calls for 38-43 ft-lbs on the muffler clamps, I was way undertightened.

Hope this helps
Same problem here-2011 Fat Boy Lo w/ Rush slip ons. I ran the bottom one for my first 1000 and it was a factory defect-looking at it-the angle of the cut was turned out towards me. Dealer replaced it at the first service.

A flashlight..a wooden match...and a torque wrench.

Damn...thats exotic!

I have the 2011 service manual-Page 4-38-Figure 4-58.

Are you talking about part number 21?

Where do you get the clamps?....(Dealer is about an hours drive away).....just in case Mr. Murphy tags along?

Thanks for the help in advance!

I was able to tighten the bottom one "more than a few turns"!

Took her out for a few hours today..rolling off throttle completely as well practically eliminated the decel pop.

Not as bad as it was!

Much thanks for the info!

Interesting thread. I'm new to the forum and this is an issue I've had with my 2011 CVO convertible.

I had one tech tell me it needs a tuner and another tech (same dealership) tell me it's not necessary.

Time to get the torque wrench out and settle this!!

Thanks guys.

Bringing in more air on the front end may reduce or eliminate popping by burning excess fuel (making it leaner) before reaching the headers.

But, what do I know....I'm just a banjo playin' inbred!
I disagree, to a degree. Apples and oranges...Some decel popping is caused by: Like what was mentioned from RUSH Techs, exhaust leak. The most common in MHO, and personal experience is a lean condition, BUT a lean condition at ZERO PERCENT THROTTLE ONLY. Add some fuel to the zero percent "values" with such things like a Power Commander and Thundermax...it will go away, and or, will sound like a gurgle instead of the explosive Popping. Adding the fuel to those "values" with a Power Commander & such devices is pretty simple. Start high with your "values" ...in my case I started up at 18....went for a ride...no popping...at all, but I could tell there was to much fuel at ZERO PERCENT THROTTLE, I could smell it slightly at a stop...
So, back to the garage....reduce the "value" to 16....go for a ride...no more smell and still no popping.....Back to the garage....reduce to 14...same thing...no smell, no popping....Garage again...reduce the "values" to 12...went for a ride....no smell but the popping returned....back to the garage....Increase the "value" to 13.....ride it...no smell, no popping, gurgles is all, and runs like a frightened rabbit. I average 38-40 MPG....Highway travel is 42+...
