I may have spoke too soon regarding the availability of any of the '05 models still at the dealerships. I visited my local dealer this weekend to pick up a part that I had ordered and their showroom is mostly EMPTY! No more '05s available for delivery according to the sales staff.
One did mention that the '06s would be EPA compliant in time for the newest regs. According to this guy, they will still change out the exhaust for you on the '06s, but will not re-jet the carb or re-map the ECM. They will, however, SELL you the proper module so YOU can make the changes if YOU want to. It will be marked as "ILLEGAL FOR STREET USE". Go figure!
I want to thank everone for there responses. I think the cost of 05's versus waiting for 06 is the real issue. If I could get a step discount on a 05 ion a good color than I would fly, sign, and drive home. But with 06's coming in next few weeks, I think for the money I should wait and get a new model. Now, the cats issue does raise some concerns. Of course I have no intention of messing with the bkie, so as longs as it rides good - I would be fine with it. It must sound like a HD though.
Anyone have the scope on when the 06's really hit street and if so a dealer that will talk to me right now?
I want to thank everyone for there replaies and comments. I went back to local dealer and talked with owner, she sold me a new duece 05, for 16,800. It's 2005 model 7 miles and Two Tone. I just couldn't wait any longer. I put 150 miles on it this weekend and love it. I was little pissed off, got rained on and now I have to clean me new bike.
I just purchased the sissybar and control extenders. I was thinking about saddle bags, as I need some place to carry my laptop and such. I am not sure about the soft leather ones or getting the hard ones that have locks.
I love my '04 deuce. Don't want to sound like a dumb *** but laptop?? I ride to get away from work and all the everyday BS. Nothing better than an open road. Forget about tomorrow live for today.
My 05 Deluxe has cats. I now have V&H staggerds. My dealership in Auburn Ca puts on SEII's before they even sell bikes. Exept for mine because they dont make them.
