This being the tropics, I ride with a mesh jacket from Fieldsheer, only gets too hot when standing still ... for pants, I have the armored jeans from Cortech.
All bought on their close out section. Great savings.
Duece you gonna make the open house at Whiskey River ? I got my Rocker from them. Good people. Still pondering wether to ride or trailer, (I live in Sulphur Springs). In any case should be a good time.
I've bought from these guys in the past. Great products and great customer service. Although all of their jackets used too be $99.00. http://www.hotleathers.com/
im a novice rider, after a few years ill probably relax and not worry as much, but i'd like to keep my skin on me not on the road.

Sounds like you want some quality mesh or textile with lots of vents. There isn't really much made in the USA as far as textile and mesh goes, so I would check out Scorpion and Rev'it, as far as brands that I have good experiences with. IMO, a jacket without CE approved shoulder, elbow, and back armor is just a fashion statement.
After some additional Distressing they are looking great.
