congrats on your deluxe, i have yet to hear anyone call my bike a girls bike. maybe if you get a pink one, but change to apes and cholos and you'll be looking good
The Deluxe is absolutely a girl's bike, if you mean it attracts them like bees to honey. My bike constantly gets attention from women and guys, almost to the point of embarrassment sometimes.
Wlecome to the Deluxe world of Softails. Yep, I'm a "gir", actually, I'm an old broad who didn't feel that I needed a Street Glide, but I wanted a "bagger". So, my Deluxe is as close to a bagger I can get with Hog Deluxe bags, engine guard, adjustable foot pegs, and a windshield. Now, I'm the only person on this forum who has a stock bike. I had the abnoxious loud bike for years and she was so gooood sounding, this bike is staying stock. But, I hate the throttle response of the stock bike. When I can scrape up a little money, some tweeking will be done to get the response I feel my bike should have. The sky is the limit on changing your bike to be yours. Do your research and only spend the money on mods that you like and want. It can be crazy changing things just because you saw it on another bike. Do some searches on this forum. You'll find all kinds of advice on everything. Me, I just want a bike I can ride to Sturgis on and be comfortable. Now, to just get some tunes!! Should of bought that SG.
I always wanted a '94 Nostalgia (and would still like one some day), so the Deluxe was a natural pick for me. I don't think I ever really considered anything else.
At the time, not too many women had them and people kept asking me why I didn't buy a girl's bike, like an 883...
first thing I changed...the grips, then added a highway bar, took off the rear seat, then bags, then....
Hey Jenk00-
I just bought a deluxe a couple of months ago and LOVE it! It handles well, is comfortable and looks good! (Oh yeah, I am a girl, though...) One of the reasons I love it is because it's low center of gravity makes moving/ parking easy for me. I put a windscreen and pipes on it first. Have fun!
Congrats on getting the classiest & best looking bike the Dave makes today. I think the chick stigma is due to the fact that it is very elegant looking & lowered. Screw stigmas. They said the same thing about long hair in the 60's, & I still got it today. If I ever get another, it will be a Deluxe. Even better looking than my A-Bomb (Fatboy)
Please please PLEASE don't RUIN it the way some people do, with that dopey looking 21" front bicycle wheel & pipes that stick 4 feet out the back. Seems to me the most popular way now to ruin a perfectly good Deluxe.
Also remember;the Harley community is all about good natured ribbing & ball-busting. Gotta grow a thick skin like the guy said.

maybe people think you ruined your bike with your set up
