Just encountered something like that with my 11 RG. I was on a ride and getting ready to head on my 1200 mile leg home. Turning out of a hotel, left... sputter.... but I kept it going via course correction.

It got progressively worse as the trip went, so I assumed I was tweeking a harness or something.

In my garage, I put it up on the stand, and fired the pig up. always at the same point, while turning left, wants to die... Since its warrantied, Its going to SD Harley Tuesday.

I may take on the massive task of removing the two screw on the bezel and see whats goin on. I hadn't done that yet, due to the fact that my belt worked loose and now every 4th tooth is chewed up..... I just did the 1k, and now I put 4032 on my trip, and SPLADAAAAAAAAAAAA.

I've taken them apart a few times and clean them up. I would recomend getting a new snap ring at the hardware store. The snap ring doesnt snap back as well for some reason. Cheap metal I think - maybe thats why they say they cant be serviced. Take a look at the snap ring that you opened , I'll bet its open a bit more than normal

I also noticed that when I turn the ignition on, my fuel pump would prime the fuel system, but it sounded like it stopped and started 2 or 3 times. I knew the switch was the problem, but before I spent the cash on one from hd, I decided to take a look at it. I took the switch out of the console and noticed there was a snap ring holding it together. I removed the snap ring and the plastic ring underneath it. There are 3 u shaped metal pieces and springs under that ring that slide on a piece of copper. That strip was very dirty. I hit it with some contact cleaner and a little sand paper to clean it up. A little dialectric grease later, I put it back together. The switch is perfect again. My fuel pump doesn't start and stop anymore, and I have no issues with the switch not making contact in any position. This may not be anything new to some, but I thought maybe this would save someone in a similar situation $100 or so. Start to finish was less than 20 minutes and cost nothing.
Worked for me! This was the exact problem i was having with my 2000 fatboy, to the point where it was getting impossible to even get it to start.
THANX MAN!!!

Thumbs up

worked perfect thank you so much for all the info. you helped me get rid of that stab in the gut feeling as to what could be wrong with my bike. the dealer near me is notrious for finding every possible problem before the correct one. i am sure this saved me some serious coin.

Yes, di-electric grease is your friend. When I replaced my speedo I greased up the ignition contacts just because.
