Question Is this sound normal?

Hello,
I wish I could describe it better, but when I ride fairly slow, 1st or 2nd gear, I can hear a weird "shiiiiiish" sound from somewhere towards the front half of the bike, I think. It's loud enough to hear over the engine at low speeds and RPM and I am not sure if it is a sound from the gas tank, like the fuel pump, or the air cleaner or maybe the front wheel.

Since I am new to HD's, I don't know what to expect as normal. I have a 2011 Fatboy Lo (with the ABS/Security system, if that matters).

Thanks!

I hear a sound from the front of my bike to like you describe. Also at lower speed you can hear the valve train pretty good. I would say it is normal. Every thing seems to be in tip top shape and the bike runs good. Good to see you up and running Wabbit. Glad all worked out for you. Enjoy the ride Bro.

Whew, thanks, that's a relief!
After all the snafu's, I guess I am extra-alert to anything that might be wrong.
Had a great to Laconia yesterday!

It could also be your primary and its normal, In 2007 they went to an auto-tensioner system (thus no more door to adjust the primary chain) which can be a bit noisy.

Default Sound

Does the sound go away if you lightly squeeze the front brake? If so could be slightly warped brake rotor.

I think he is describing a sort of buzzing sound like I get in 1st and 2nd gear it is up front some where I think it is just the tins around the upper fork vibrating.

Ok, not sure on the brake or clutch thing. I will check that on the ride home.

I hear the same thing on mine. I'm pretty sure it is the valve train. Talked with mechanic at dealer when I first heard this, I let them ride it and said that's what it is.
