Does anyone have these pipes .. looking at em for my 11 fatboy ?
any experience likes or dislikes would be appreciated
I have them on my 07 Road King. love them, the sound is awesome and with Cams really wakes the bike up. Be warned though they can be LOUD when you get on them, but cruise pretty mellow but you still know they are there.
I love them so much I just ordered the same pipe for my 2010 Fat Boy Lo.
I recently installed the blacked out V&H Pro Pipe HO on my '06 Dyna and am very impressed. It has excellent performance, an awesome D-E-E-P rumble and any rev, and is not over-the-top loud like the V&H Straight Shots on my '10 Heritage. Don't take that to mean it's a quiet pipe, it's definitely not.
I was so impressed with this pipe that I contacted V&H tech support about installing the same pipe (black or chrome) for my '10 Heritage. My concern was that from the photos I've seen on their web site and in the forums, the softail version mounts appx 1.5" higher than the Dyna version - possibly interfering with the Heritage saddlebags. You can see this by comparing the pipe to the frame rail or the trans side cover for the Dyna and Softail versions of the Pro Pipe HO.
Sure enough V&H tech support stated that "fitment was not recommended" for my Heritage because the pipe would end up too close to the saddlebags. That was a huge disappointment. So now the Bassani Road Rage long or Freedom Performance Union are my backup options (I don't care for the lines of the Fatcat or Thunderheader). But if I owned a Fat Boy or Fat Boy low the V&H Pro Pipe HO would be right at the top of my list!
nice.. thats a question i need to ask to ... if the pipes interfere with saddlebags im not sure ... dont use the bags much but on long trips will they burn the bags
