Default Fender for Softail.

Looking at a new fender for my 2001 Night train. Why would the Harley Website say "Fits '00-later FLSTF/I models. " It should fit any softail??

Your Night Train may have a bobtail fender and the one you are looking at isn't. The difference is how the brake light assembly mounts. It will probably work, but you may need to also purchase a new brake light assembly.

Unless you're buying factory paint to match your current setup, I'd go to ebay. Bought a whole set of sheet metal for my Fat Boy last year. Got it one piece at a time, but still only had $350 tied up in the whole thing. It was going to get custom paint anyway, so I didn't care that each piece was a different color. Sometimes HD just plain wants to much money for a part and it pays to look elsewhere than a dealer.

The fx and the fl use different fender struts too.

Just one extra hole different in the strut? I thinnk that is the only difference. I also think according to the diagrams, that the bob fender actually has the extra hole drilled, its just not on the strut.
