Default Heat

I went for a ride yesterday and hit some really bad traffic. It was pretty hot out (over 90) and we went maybe 3-4 miles in an hour. I pulled off the road for a second to get a bottle of water and when I tried to start it back up the bike wouldn't start. It took over a 1/2 hour before it would start back up. Is this something that an oil cooler could have helped with? If so, is the HD oil cooler a better option than the ones that Jagg makes?

I'm interested in any insight too. I live in Florida and it sometimes gets too hot to friggin breathe, and traffic is bad in the cities

I'm no mechanic, but doesn't sound to me like high oil temps would cause it to not start. Now, a hot bike with an overheated starter maybe? Had my starter go bad (VERY slowly), and when it initially started to go, it would only fail when the bike was hot. Would get a click but no vroom. Since it went so slowly, it was very hit or miss, and took two years of trips to the dealer before they could replicate it and fix it under warranty. Had to carry a heavy screwdriver with a plasti-dipped handle so I could whack the starter while hitting the start button when it decided to act up.

I run an oil cooler on both the 05 and 07. Temps here in the desert will be in the hundreds for days and weeks at a time and the cooler seems to help. The harley oil cooler btw is made by Jagg.

I hadn't thought of it that way. I just assumed that the oil was the problem.
