swithching to avon tires

Greetings all, Iam currently running a 160 metzler 880 on the rear, what is the widest avon venom for a stock 05 FL....150 or 160..Thanks

was running a 160 venom on my Fatty, great sticky tire, LOUSY mileage @ 5K & it's shot,, ( actually got 6k out of the first one,, did i mention that the mileage sucks ? )

That's funny, I run a 150 on the Springer and got 12K, the front is still going strong.

You MUST run Venoms at 40 to 44 psi to get the proper performance and mileage out of them.

They are easily 10K tires. If you run them at factory (Dunlop) pressure they will not last.

was running @ 40psi

installed 2 rears & got the mileage that you guys are claiming for a single tire

i'm glad it's working for you, but avon's not getting any more of my cash

Used to run the Avon venom. Cool tread pattern, sticky tire. Did not like the ride it gave me so switched to metz 880.

metz fits like a glove for me.

Exactly right. I spoke with an Avon engineer, and he recommended 38 front 44 rear solo, and 40 front 46 rear loaded, for Avon Venoms. He added that the reason people complain about poor mileage is that they under-inflate the tires.
