You people put too much thought to this. Turn the shock, take a ride. let your *** decide. Simple.

On my older (99) Softail, the adjustment is on the rear of the shocks. It also has eyes at both ends so that you do not have to worry about the bolt turning. It does make it a little simpler, and I don't know why Harley changed their program. I can change mine in a few minutes on the jiffy stand also. I have lowering bolts on mine, but keep them adjusted to about stock height, because where I normally run the shocks, (soft) it hits bottom on hard bumps.

Takes me less then 5 min to adjust the shocks on my 2011 Fatboy Lo, Loosen the jam nut, turn the shock, tighten jam nut, repeat on other side. You manual explains it very well and gives you the amount of turns for the load weight.

true, every one i have looked under the adjusters face the rear. i never have thought to look while at the dealer. every bike we have in shop right now the adjusters face the rear. very easy to adjust.
