Default 2007 Fatboy Engine shuts down while riding.

Hi everyone,
I would like to know if anyone has had this problem. I have a 2007 Fatboy and While riding the bike the engine shuts off for a second and comes back on. The speedometer also shuts off and comes back on. Before the bike gets ready to do this the engine light comes on first then the battery light comes on second. After about 3 seconds the battery light goes out then the engine light goes out. About a couple seconds later the engine shuts down and come back on while riding. It doenst matter what temp or gear your in. It may do it 3 times in a row or only 1 time on a day trip. I also notice in 3rd gear i get a pulsesating in the throttle. Meaning if I hold the throttle still i can feel the bike gain and loose power. Only slightly. I changed the fuel filter and changed both relays. System and Fuel. It did stop for a couple of weeks but it is doing it again. I bought the bike new in 07 and always do my own service. I have 43,000 miles on the bike. I would take it to the HD shop but I had some bad experience in the past. If anyone has had this problem you would be of great help. Thank you.

Thanks for the response Lewintennessee, I did check the battery cables. I pulled out the battery and the fuse panel to check all the wires to make sure there isn't any wires rubbing. So far no luck.

Thanks Truckertom. I am thinking the same thing. I also did a speedometer error code test and I have no codes stored on the computer.

Hey Truckertom you were correct about the short in the ignition system. After 8 hrs. working on the bike I found the problem. It was the main feed to the ignition switch. If you looked in the end of the plug you couldn't tell there was a problem. I had to take the wire out of the harness in order to see that the metal clip was burnt. So I replaced the metal contacts and the bike ran great. I just wanted to thank you for your help.

Sounds like the same thing mime did a couple yrs back, and the battery cable bolts were not tight when I checked them..

Clean and re-tighten them for sure, also check the ground connection.

If its not this, at least its a easy rule-out that won't hurt doing anyway..

If a short actually is the problem, wouldn't the system give out some error codes?
