I'll second the DR's view.. I tried Bel-ray 80-144 Hypoid and I didn't like it all all.

My shifts for the first 10 mins where really stiff..

I switched to Mobile 1 GL 75-90 two Yrs ago because here in IN. it doesnt get much over 90 and we ride a lot days in the spring and fall that in the 60;s. They make a GL also 75-140 but haven't tried it.

I am sold on it and also use mobile 1 V-twin 20 50 in the motor and primary.. IMO its the best I've used for far for shifting and finding Neutral.

Oil can't do everything if U clutch needs adjusted though or U linkage is out of adjustment.

Is your bike a Twin Cam or an EVO? It makes a difference.

If it's a Twin Cam then something is out of adjustment, most likely the clutch or the amount of oil in the primary.

If it's an EVO then you need to rev the motor some as you shift to neutral and only from first. You can't get neutral from any gear but first on an EVO. On the Twin Cam you should be able to get it from first or second.

Where did you get THAT tidbit? The only bike I couldn't get neutral on from 2nd was my '06 35th Anniversary before the recall was done. I know it says in the Evo Owner's manual you can't get neutral from 2nd, but it is absolutely NOT true.

My bike shifts much better since switching to Redline. At the same time, I also installed a heavy duty clutch spring and adjusted the pack and cable. It's all in your service manual.

Clutch adjustment should be the solution . Changing oils will not do anything if the problem is a clutch adjustment.

One other issue is a loose / improperly adjusted primary chain.

I'd looked into actual mechanical issue. As a clutch wears it needs re-adjustment. If never adjusted the first issue is not finding neutral.

True + 1. Sometimes going from 2nd I'll look down and see the green light... I like Mobil 1 20-50 in the engine and granny with red Ford ATF in the primary. Not exactly sure why but it "just works" for me.

I agree with those who say to check your clutch adjustment first.
