I lost back brakes in rear on 06 softtail std, I checked fluid and it was full, i am thinking it is back master cyclider, i ask harley dealer about a new one and they say it has been updated, i haven't never had one go out is it commom on the 06s softtails, can it be rebuilt or is that a wise thing to do. i have 39000 mi on it and no other problems ,how about some help from some one on the issue, i would appreciate it
if there is air in the system it would have a leak somewhere.. if its full, mostly likely not air in system. the pads aren't worn out are they ? if the pads are ok check for pressure at the caliper bleeder. try to pump up the pedal and see if you can get any pressure at all. while holding what pressure you can, crack the rear caliper bleeder loose just a bit and see if fluid squirts out or dribbles out.. if it squirts out, the rear caliper is bad.. if it just dribbles out, the M/cyl is bad..
Some m/cyls can be rebuilt if parts are available and providing the bore or piston inside is not pitted or scored. depending on your mechanical ability is whether you should attempt it or not.. its not too difficult. if you do try a rebuild.. make sure you put the cup seal in the correct direction..
