Thanks for the input...
If any of you have read any of my posts since I been here.... My bikes and I aren't show winners... Not too concerned with looks so much... I do the needed maintenance and ride... Wash it sometimes... Etc....
But I love the way this bike looks.... I was drawn too it... The look, the style....
So I don't want to effect the looks drastically....
Smaller apes.... Beachish type of bars....
These will stay on here for awhile...
I hope to get used to and like them!!!

I appreciAte all the input'n

Look at hdgzr's bike. Or for that matter most every guy with apes who posted. You'll notice NONE of them have the bars pushed as far forward as yours. Yeah, they look tough all forward like that but as you found out, they are not comfy that way. Pull them back, I think you'll find them a lot more rideable. Yesterday I burned two entire tanks of fuel riding with the wife on the back, and in a big group. Not a sore bone in my body.

+1 with Fabrikator... gives those bars some more miles. As long as you don't have any sort of injury that's being aggravated by the apes, you'll get used to them. Eventually you'll be hooked like the rest of us. Besides a comfortable riding position, apes also give you a nice unrestricted, panoramic view out of your mirrors. I ride the Southern California freeways a lot and I really like being able to see what's going on behind and next to me. With regular bars your body blocks some of the view out the mirrors and you need to lower your head slightly to see out of them. If you hang on to those apes for a few hundred more miles, your whole view might change.

not inline with the rack, but not as far forward.... i hope to find that sweet spot where i am not reaching up and forward, nor falling back in a slouch...

Just hang in there with'em. Your bars likely don't have much of a pullback so it would be difficult to be comfy without neck/back pain if they are str8 up. That was my case, I had to bring them back a few degrees. I switched bushings and grips, and my hands went numb for a few rides until they "settled". Also, your springer risers look tall, what height are they? You probably have 18" total rise I bet. Also, full leather gloves help with the numbness. I think it is from these darned balanced engines. If I ride mid-upper 5th, my hands will go numb.
