What size are Torx Bolt Heads on Primary

What size are Torx Bolt Heads on Primary
Hi guys, do you know what size torx head is required on 05 Softail Primary.. I have a size 27 torx at home i put into bolt heads, but felt a little play (seemingly) when inserted. Does anyone know for certain what size torx it is to remove all of those bolts? It really surprises me as detailed as the service manual is, that it does not specify what size torx heads, allen heads, etc are required for each job. thanks again. mb.

They should be a #27 , a #25 will also fit BUT it will strip out the heads, this is a problem that most people encounter, using the wrong torx bit. The fit varies from one manufacturer to another, a good quality torx is important here, what I have found to work well is this, If you look at the tip of the torx bit, you'll notice that it has slightly rounded shoulders. I put them on a grinding wheel on the side and grind them flat , then run them across a wire wheel to remove any burs. It seats the bit somewhat deeper into the head for a better bite.

I took out the torx head from the primary and inspection covers and replaced them with allen heads .They are made of a much better steel and you dont have to worry about stripping the heads ..Get the chrome ..look much better ,They can be bought at your HD dealer.
