Got rear ended here in ND last year and had the local stealer do a free estimate and the insurance company did their own too, they cut the check directly to me as I also like to do all my own work. I'm sure insurance companies will vary though. Just keep in mind you can always tangle if they don't give you what you want.

Sorry to hear that happened on your trip that sucks. When you say six to eight weeks I am assuming you mean for the painted fender . If that's the case I wouldnt wait either . Shops can match paint no problem and you have more options IE if you wanted to extend the fender etc .

Hopefully you get a good adjuster . Good Luck

Get the check from the insurance company of the bastard that hit you!

Get your own insurance company involved if you have to, but some of them dock you even if the accident wasn't your fault.

I know Harley will estimate the damage but I have to pay $75 for that since I will not let them fix it. But will the insurance let me fix my own bike? I do have a company but not a store front.
So ya got rear-ended in Nu Yawk...so what's so special? Most of 'em get rear-ended everyday and don't even notice...

Couldn't resist!

Sorry for problems there, hope it works out for you!
