I'll be back from Afghanistan soon and I'll be picking up a 2012 Fat Boy Lo. I want to go with a 2-1 exhaust. I'm looking for one with a moderate sound level because I have a new baby to come home to. I also need one that will allow plenty of clearance for saddlebags. I've been looking at Thunderheader 2-1 and Super Trapp 2-1 SuperMegs. I'm willing to consider others I haven't thought of or heard of. Since I'm putting it on a Lo ground clearance is also a concern. I'd appreciate any input especially pictures and sound level info. Thanks
Thunderheader and Supertrapp are both some of the loudest 2-1's out there. As stated above, the D&D Fatcat with standard baffle with give you a good moderate sound level and great torque on top of it.

I disagree on the Supertrapp. It is one of the quietest 2 into 1`'s available. My otehr chocies are the D&D fatcat or lowcat on a fatboy Lo. I doubt a fatcat on a low would never touch down. I scraped my fatcat numerous tiems on my regular fatboy. Whatever you choose hit me up for pricing as i sell all for a nice discount. DREW@DRVTWIN.COM

Agree, the Supertrapp is one of the quietest out there. It's also the choice of a lot of guys who mod the cr_p out of their engines.
I have the D&D Lowcat on my 2011 Lo and I really like it. The only issue I am having is that I can't install the larger bags because the pipe turns up along the swingarm. I have a set of regular Softail hard bags I bought used from a guy and they will have plenty of room but I am not crazy about them because there really isnt much room in them. I do love the sound and performance of the D&D exhaust though. It is not really loud until you open it up and it sounds great.

Hmm...maybe it was a different model or somehow modified, but the Supertrapp 2-1 I heard was killer loud.

It has discs that affect the sound as well as the end cap. If the end cap is drilled and less discs are put in it is louder. There are numerous configurations but this is a well known pipe for people who want the bike relatively quiet. My buddy with a 95" and a sueprtrapp's bike is still quiet compared to a lot of other pipes. What each person defines as quiet is also very subjective. But I consider loud my fishtails with no baffles.
