i have heard im wonderin cuz my belt is really sloppy i mean loose? how the hec does that happen? somethins up im gunna look into it tomorrow,
PLEASE anyone else please chime in , jersey did you have a loose belt b4 bearing locked up? or did u notice?
check Ur axle bolt to see if its loose.
check U rear wheel pulley/sprocket bolts, make sure there tight.
Then if all is well U may need to re-adjust ur belt tension.
And yes the belt will usually lose a little tension and need adjusted every so often, pends on how U ride. The harder U ride the more she'll stretch.
no mike i didnt notice the belt tension, im assuming that you rock is an 08 , jack it up put in neutral and see how freely the rear wheel spins , +1 on what oct said check your rear pulley those bolts have been known to back out , how many mile on the scoot ? if you pull the rear tire the bearing replacements are cheap
The air ride depending on where it is set will affect how tight the belt is. It is best to put the air ride where you like it for riding and then adjsut the belt. By the way, going to be doing a comparison between the SAS air ride you have and the SS pretty soon here. I sopetn some time with CCCS at Vegas and they explained to me how their rebound function works. It is an automatic rebound that does not need to be set. It still really does not make sense to me but we will see how it works once I get it installed and give it a try.
On my 2002 I have never had a bearing go bad so I really can't help with that.
I also have never had a bearing go bad on any of the bikes I've owned during My life,
But being a Retired Machine Repairman I have change and installed Thousands of them during my 38 yrs at work.
The noise a bearing makes really depends on where it at, what it does and the type of bearing it is.
I've heard bad bearings squeal, rattle, hum, bang, grind, groan, shake, vibrate, smoke and growl.
If Ur talking about the wheel bearings then I'd quess it really depends of wither the races galled to the hub or axle, or wither the bearings themselves go bad.
I suppose U'd hear a ginding maybe a popping noise when moving the bike, If Ur running down the road with loud pipes U could IMO have total failure before U hear it. Not good,
Never seen one do that, but it Could happen if not maintained.
