I love my 12.5" Wild1 apes too. Best mod I've done yet. Very very comfortable and they look good.

16's are perfect, the only thing you will need to do is get used to slow speed maneuvering which will happen very fast. Very comfortable once you get used to them. They are shoulder high til I get my slouch on then they are eye level. I think you will regret 12's because as a friend once told me, "they are like fake *****, no matter how big they are at first you will always want bigger in the long run."

However it also depends on where you live. Here in CA the Guvn'ator has made it legal to have bars that are 6" over your shoulders. I guess it's not legal to have them that high in AZ according to ToBeFranks's post...

I have 16's on my '07 night train, and a custom chopper - I have a 2 inch riser on the train - couldn't stand the drag bars. I have a herniated disc in my lower back, and the apes let me sit taller. I'm 5'10 and the 16's (plus riser) put them just above my shoulders (I have to sit up straight when I pass the law b/c above shoulders is illegal here too!). My only complaints are: I hit a pretty good bump in the road and they moved dramatically - had to pull over and adjust; the handling at 65-70 mphs becomes pretty wobbly. The good outweighs it though, I love the look, feel, and definitely makes it "different". My advice is to get them internally wired -- looks so much cleaner, then drop the mirrors underneath! I agree w/the "fake *****" comment -- I almost went w/18's, happy w/16's,but ....

It's funny how all the ape lovers look at each others bikes -- like a "inner Harley family".

Get 'em - you'll love 'em

Wild 1's here.16".Sometimes wish I would have gone to 18".You'll love them.Like one of the other posters said there is almost a fratenity with the high bars guys.Plus you look like like a badass going down the road.To me the high bars identify it as a Harley as soon as you see them coming.Good Luck
