Tell the dealer that they are high on the price, according to your research, and see what they will do....
It is my experience that they don't negotiate on price though.
You could see if they will throw an extended warranty in at that price.
I do see why someone would want to buy at a dealership. They give you a 30 day factory warranty and I'm sure they have gone over the bike with a fine tooth comb. At least they should have......
You buy from a private seller and god knows what you are getting.
Oh, I got my 2010 Heritage Classic with 1300 miles for $15,500.
Yep, That's the one. If they throw in the warranty I might consider it. Thanks for the advice!
To high even with the bags ($600) and windshield ($500). My GF bought her 2009 with 2300 miles from an individual for $13,000 last April. Extended warranty included by seller.
I agree with many on this thread. The price you've indicated is too high. Take it slow and research, research, research. I used ebay as a guide to mileage/accessories vs price. I spent 6 months trying to find my FB. I knew what I wanted and at the end of 6 months, I knew what a good deal would look like. I just had to find that bike. Check out www.nicerideinc.com and see if Serge has a Deluxe. He also sells on ebay under cannandog. Just as a data point, my 08 FB purchased from him in Jan of 2010 had 55, one owner miles on it and was essentially brand new. Chrome front end, crash bar, levers/switches/housing etc. and a transferable warranty good until May 2012. I have the original invoice when purchased at the dealer as well. I paid 14K even. The bill of sale from H-D of Palm Beach, FL was 17,899.16 plus 2248.85 accessories and install labor plus 1104.00 for 4 year warranty. Total was 21252.01; pre-tax, pre-freight, and pre-dealer prep. Grand total with tax out the door was 23486.04. Did I mention I got it for 14,000? There are cheaper bikes out there if you're willing to take the risk. This was a no-brainer, brand new (2 year old) bike with warranty. They're out there but you've got to put in the time to find them. Buy new? I don't think so...
Guess I was the guy that took the chance. Found an 02 heritage while I was deployed on CL and had a friend go check it out. The guy that owned it had but some money in it (ie V&H pipes, jockey shift kit, and other upgrades and bolt ons) He had every receipt from for every sevice and part on the bike. Got it for $8000. Had 10,000 miles on it. Started riding it when I got home in March, puts some new bars on it and have already put an additional 11,000 miles on the bike. I love it and am still riding. Hoping the snow stays away.
When I bought my 06 deluxe, it had bags and windshield, some chrome etc. Bought mine off Ebay, it had 1400 miles on it, I paid $10,500. The guy even shipped it to me in TN for $300.
There is better deals out there, especially with winter coming on. Look around....JMHO
Based on what I saw two months ago while looking for my Fattie, that price seems pretty good. If I would've seen that price on a Luxe around here, I would've gotten it.
