Well I am going to share my story because its a way for me to vent Last friday I recived my wild 1 16 inch apes for my 06 Springer Classic I also got the cables so I went to my local Harley dealership to have them installed. I dropped the bike off at 8:00am and was told that it was going to take all day which I knew it would. Here is where its gets fun I told my wife to drop me off at 4:00 because I wanted to make sure that it was going to be done well at 4:30 the service writer came out and said lets go see the mechanic he was standing there whit a rag and started telling me my brand new barnett brake line was leaking??? But hey man I put some pipe dope on it so it should be good now but these brake lines are really crappy you should get a harley line. WTF give me a break its a barnett line one of the best and it leaks?? well turns out he didnt have it tightend enough problem solved. Now for the topper at 5:00 they say your bike is done and has been washed so I pay 1002.50 for the install and a 10000 mile service and I go jump on the bike super stoked! well when I get down the street I realize that I can move my bars back and forth in the risers good thing I live around the corner. So I figure that I can just tighten up the risers well guess what they stripped one of the bolts out and didnt even tell me. Total BS I ended up fixing the riser with a longer bolt so we will see how it holds up, bottom line is I feel like I was violated LOL What would you do if you where me?
I'd take the stripped bolt back to them and see if they will give you some $$ back. After they tell you NO then find a new mechanic. Or you could buy a good service manual and some good tools and learn how to do things yourself. $1000 would have bought some REAL nice tools.
Well I agree with all of you guys..First instinct was to go postal on the place. Its tough to find a good mechanic these days but one thing is for sure I wont be going back there for sure! As far as doing it myself I do most of my repairs myself I just dont like messing with electrical crap! As a matter of fact they put my blinkers up on my bars so I look like a 18 wheeler driving down the road..Well alst night I cut those bad boys right off. Now I have two live blinker wires running down my bars I did put electrical tape on them but still..
