Thanks, professor -- now I can bust the tuner's ***** about smoothing. Interested in learning more about the timing situation, however. Odd that you refer to me, the OP, in the third person, but I guess that's how you roll in Northern Ohio.

If you don't want to hear opinions, maybe you shouldn't start a thread asking for them. Sorry if I offended your sensibilities.

Ignition timing is when the bike fires, (in the stroke). When you see wavy lines like you have, it can be caused by a number of things, (slipping clutch, wheel hop, etc.) Usually if a clutch slips, the line will get a little choppy where the torque reaches it's peak, if it's wheel hop, it usually occurs at higher RPM's. When the whole curve is choppy, it can usually be fixed by timing.

I guess I referred to you in the "third" person because I was actually quoting another poster, and brought your OP up afterwards. no disrespect was meant.

Does that sound about right to you guys? I thought the HP may be a tad low, but my goal was low- and mid-range torque anyway.

Just read through this post again...

So Ur stock 103 with stg 1 got 93/78. and the dyno was done in STD..

As stated above and I also feel the same way, whenever I see a dyno done in STD, I first think that the tuner has an older dyno machine that usually yields a little Higher #'s than a (SAE) sheet.

SO this is why U'll see number all over the place, I'd rather see the sheet and go from there..

When I see a STD, 5th gear, dyno, the first thing that comes to my mind is a tuner that wants to get higher #'s. But really to be fair a new Machine is big $$$, so it maybe its just a cost thing for some to buy a new dyno machine.

Just remember a dyno is a tuning instrument, comparing results from one to another will give different numbers.

Bottom line is Ur STD tune that got 93/78 would equal say 89/75 on a STD dyno sheet..
Around my area here, I've talked to 7 different tuners and none of them use STD anymore because its not the choice way of dyno tuning anymore.

Biggest thing is DON"T get caught up in just the Number game...

If Ur bike run's great and Ur happy just BE happy...

The #'er game is just that, Kinda like playing the, mines bigger than Urs when we were Kids.

I was just teasing ya. And hey, you're assuming that I have some sensibilities left.

I appreciate the responses from all of you guys. I've learned a lot, which is why I posted about this. If I do any additional mods, I'll try a new tuner. The bike is running good. My goal wasn't to gain bragging rights about torque and HP; it was to make the engine run cooler, more efficiently and eliminate as much of the decel popping as possible with the new pipes.
