I did detachable bags for a few years and found them to small. Was going to get springer bags but the opening is restrictive on what you can fit in them so I ended up going with RK custom bags. I think those look the best on a softail. There is a LO with them on it and it looks great.
Here is the link, Miked053 has a nice lo with RK custom bags on it. They flow really well with softails.
Practical always ends up winning out over cool for me every time. I've ended up putting bags on every Harley I've owned except my heritage since it came with bags. But I wouldn't mind replacing the stock bags with RK bags someday. just bag it. I bet you won't regret it.
Without bags where would I put my chit?. Mine have never been off the bike. BTW, I don't usually like bastardized Harleys but that Deluxe looks mighty fine with the RK bags.
I really dont like the look of bags on a bike, but they are a necessary evil for me. I went with Heritage Springer bags on my last Deluxe and thats what im going with on my current one cuz these are the only bags I like besides RK hard bags. Theyre not as big as RK bags but I prefer the more retro look, they are hard mounted but can be removed within 5 minutes tops. All in all I like my bike without bags but then again I hate having to carry chit in a back pack. It just makes sense, I must be getting old...JK. Here are a few of my old 06 with HS bags.
Is there different ends for Samson's....besides the 'fish thingeys'?
I think Samson's may look better when bags are off...the 4" is a bit much from other makes....but do look great with bags. Still trying to wrap my imagination on them.
