Gawwwd damn, this is turning into one expensive, challenging and fun winter in respect to mod'n the Lo. And again another thread to throw at yas...
After coming across this pic as shown in another OP,
I am seriously thinking of bagging just like the pic. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Even though it may lose a bit of the bar hop coolness, the practical of tossing gear and beer in a matter of a few seconds compared to strapping it to a sissy bar when I go out or overnighters at times. I my as well wrench some bags instead. The idea of black duals on the Lo, I think will look great with or without bags on. I sort of have to plan now since this Friday I go into the tin man to plan out out the fender fittings...where taillight selection is important if I do decide to bag.
With that said, how many peeps have gone through the bag dilemma?
I have different bags for different rides. A smaller round one that straps behind the seat, and removable saddle bags.
Shields kik azz in the winter too. And wind deflectors are priceless when temps drop.
TD's and RK bags could look good on a lo. The gap looking at the back of the bike and the gap in front of the lower portion of the rk bag would deter me from going that direction with a permanent setup.
I say bag. I bagged out the Fat Bob I used to have and was able to leave my truck in the garage most of the time. I even stopped and picked up groceries and whatnot. I am in the process of bagging out my Lo. Due to money availability I have decided to start with the sissy bar and luggage rack since that gives me some luggage capacity for less money then pipes and bags. The bags, and the pipes to allow them to fit, are next on the list.
Detachable bags. In fact ask hog deluxe I am going nuts waiting for bags( I am working with him to get a set made for my deluxe) Even a few weeks of production is making me crazy. But they will come off in 20 seconds so will the sissy bar and the windshield.
Soon as I feel confident that the Lo will look great with duals alone...probably a done deal w/ RK bag option. Black Bub 7s extended looking tasty ATM.
For those who don't know..my new rear fender (Russ Wernimont) stretches down to axle and should be flush with RK bags if so. And still room to lower one day.
Btw Strag...sweet bike and rarely do I dig studs. Awesome!

I did detachable bags for a few years and found them to small. Was going to get springer bags but the opening is restrictive on what you can fit in them so I ended up going with RK custom bags. I think those look the best on a softail. There is a LO with them on it and it looks great.
Here is the link, Miked053 has a nice lo with RK custom bags on it. They flow really well with softails.
