Default softail standard to deuce help ?

i was wondering , i really wanted a deuce for my first hd , but i couldnt pass up the deal i got on my fxst , can i put the tank of a deuce on my 2000 fxst or is it not even close to frame spec, or is it same ..? and if anyone has done this can you throw a pic of it one here thanks.

well anything can be done, I believe the frame is different, but seeing both stripped I could only see the tank mount was in a different place.....easily modified.

seat is def different because of the longer tank, the rear of the frame is basically the same. If you really want to do this its gonna be costly. The duece legs are pricey, the trees seem to have an issue with the uppers getting some corrosion, the dust caps for the duece legs are I believe 40 bucks each.... seats are relatively easy to come by as are the tins. The struts arent so easy. If your good at sniping on egay you could probly get a full set of forks @350-500, tins, thats iffy depending if you dont mind doing the bodywork and paint, struts would probably be best to get from steeler. basically your gonna have to stock pile all your parts over a number of months, or unless you got alot of green straight to the steeler.

I have a complete set of forks and trees,.....but I aint selling them, I'll hold onto them till I find another use.

thanks for the break down jakazz , i might just try doing a 2 inch lowering kit and i already have a extra set of softail tins to play with maybe ill do a different paint scheme and figure out a way to get the pro street stretch im lookin for , just really like the stretched tank on the deuce, dennyo you have a good point work with what you got is gonna be more beneficial
