At the shop yesterday as I was planning the tins, I asked the mechanic what duals would he recommend. He stated that most folks go for sound and looks when it comes to duals. I also asked what duals out there does a great job in optimizing HP/TQ. He again stated that most duals should give better torque since they are more restictive than my 2-2 V-H's...but with minor loss to HP. Which I assumed. Plus the HP loss won't be noticebale with my 255 cam set up since it's meant for low end torque.
After reviewing countless threads and vendors, again my head is spinning. Most appear to be par with each other...and to the eye the same for both 2 1/4 or 4" except for caps. Atm I am trying to decide what diameter to go with for both looks and performance. If Samson's 33" 2 1/4 adds to my existing performance, I might just go with that. The 4" just looks to bloated without bags after staring at countless pics on a fatboy....but if performance is better I may go that route. I could go with D&D Fatcat, but would have to always hide one side of the bike when bags are on:P
But the jury is still out on my choice...I got about a month to decide.
With that said I am very curious why folks chose their duals...brand, sound, looks, performance, etc...
Here is a most recent pic (last shop visit) of my Lo...to help imagine what duals to put on.

Looks, sound, performance (not the best, but better than stock), & price. I was torn between the Samsons and V&H. Ended up choosing V&H because of a ridiculous deal I got on their Softail Duals. Not at all disappointed.
Are you planning on running baffles? that will make a difference, although I don't run baffles and when I swapped from my fatcat to my duals It ran virtually the same which was surprise. It would run even better with baffles bu t I gotta have the Samson rumble. IF you are running cams on a 96" your performance will still be rocking.

103". Probably with baffles for performance. I will try to 'youtube' ones with baffles....if 4 wheels can hear me, that is what really counts for me! Rolling into meets would be bonus but not needed.
I had V&H true duals with baffles before these Cholo's,
The unbaffled Cholo's are quieter than the V&H, really surprised me that,
Also never noticed a difference in power,
I'm getting some bags for the odd occasion for my Deluxe, after seeing a pic of OS_deluxe's bike with bags on, I think they look real good. he has a pic in the later posts of the Socal thread.
Interestingly I wouldnt rule out getting the Super Cholo's in the not too distant future.
