I have ridden to the air force bases and they laugh at the fake helmets and can tell the difference from good distance but have never hassled me about tickets, they just say i need to wear a full face on base.
What bases are requiring full face helmets? I haven't been to a base that has that requirement. Try and make sure I don't go to one either.

Maybe he was saying they recommend one, because I'm not aware of any DoD policies requiring full face helmets. Although, we did have a post commander at one time, if able, would have banned bikes on post altogether. Glad he didn't have that authority.
Really Guy.... I ride around 5000 miles a year without a helmet why should the 300 of those that are out of state be with a DOT. I personally think helmet laws are b.s. if I want to kill my self it should be my own choice. Although I do agree with the law that under 21 you should be required too espically when theres a kid on the back of your bike. Im not against DOT helmets unless there on my head!
