2012 with 850 miles on it bought it in oct. The front brake just started making a deep sounding rubbing noise that i can feel in the lever . This happens when im comming to a stop and applying the front brakes lightly and keeping it applied with the same pressure i can even hear it. It does not happen if im applying heavy pressure . They said this is normal. The bike has abs. This is my 3rd harley 2nd with abs i never had this problem . Should i worry or take the dealers word for it. It is my first softail. Thanks for any info.
I've got about the same mileage on my new lo and I don't think I've had this problem. Haven't noticed it anyway if I do. I'll pay close attention tomorrow and see if mine's doing it too.
I also have a 2012 Fat Boy Lo with ABS brakes with 850 miles on it.
My front brake feels pretty much like a normal brake and I don't hear any unusual sounds from it either.
Bring it to another dealer.
Most dealers aren't too quick to admit it's the MOCO's fault or theirs. Kinda cuts into their profit margin.
Just think of insurance companies, when you have been paying your premiums for years on time and you finally put in a claim they try to low ball you on adjustments and make you feel like you have to defend yourself.
I've got the ABS also and have had 2ea problems. First was at 2000mi after a 2hr ride in the cold rain, the frt brake would grown just before coming to a complete stop, lasted for about 2 days then went away.
Second was at 5000mi and the frt brake was spongy and when I'd use the 2 finger brake method I'd come close to pinching my other 2 fingers between the lever and the grip. This was fixed by the dealer when they changed the brake line after I changed my handlebars. I've got 8400mi now and no further problems.
thanks guys this makes sense. i thought myself this wasnt normal , just wanted to make sure i wasnt crazy. the bike is still has the stock exhaust which i just recieved yesterday im gonna wait to put that on so they dont have no trouble hearing it , thanks again ill keep yas posted
