Yeah, I''m basically doing the same thing right now. Just received my Powerlet to install on the Heritage and am still investigating QDs for the stock Heritage bags.

That's an excellent point Fox.

But I still have concerns over the width of the Easy Brackets and also JLA's question about bag stability with the third (lower) mounting point missing.

Thanks for insight.

I have a QD sissy bar and the bags sit out the width of the Easy bracket. The look has not bothered me. I have Boss Bags 42's and I made up a lower support for them. I made the supports a few years ago and that is one of the projects for this year, make an improved support. I am very pleased with Boss Bags but have you looked at Hog Deluxe bags? They use Easy Brackets and the back is recessed to make the bags sit closer to your bike.

I'm happy with the stock Heritage bags that came with the bike. I sent them off to Boos Bags a couple years ago and had the inserts installed to prevent sagging - there are working well. So I don't want to buy a new set of bags, just searching for the best QDs for those Heritage bags. 'Best' I know is very subjective. To me it is what is good quality and function and will hold up well over time. Plus I don't want brackets that will move the bags way outboard as I have read some QD systems do.

I have easy brackets on my 09 stock Heritage bags. I wouldn't have it any other way. Easy off, easy on and they look fine.

Thanks Golfblues - looks great!

Hey, what brand of rider backrest do you have there? I have a Firehouse Customs rider backrest but yours looks different.

JLA - just curious to see which QD brackets you ended up choosing. I have a 2012 Heritage Classic and just installed the HD QD locking sideplates with the stock backrest. I've been scouring the web for a few weeks researching Easy Brackets, Edge Brackets, Boss Bags, etc, and your thread keeps coming up at the top of my search results LOL.

It seems like the top two contenders are Easy and Boss for the stock Heritage bags with QD sissybar. I was also thinking about installing the HD Heritage saddlebag flattop and lock kit for $139, but I'm interested in hearing your perspective on how either the Easy Brackets or Boss Bags QD system has performed on your bike this year. If I go with the Easy for speed, lockability, and external detach, then maybe the bags need more reinforcement after losing the lower support arm.

Thanks for posting - the information sharing on this forum is fantastic. I've schedule my stage 2 upgrade for a week and a half out. I'm installing an SE heavy breather kit, D&D FatCat 2-1 pipes, SE Pro Tuner, and dyno, and once I get the QD saddlebag system on, I think I'll be done for awhile!!

Can you post some pics of your bike with whichever QD system you bought (bags on and off)? I'll do the same after I make up my mind and take the plunge.

Thanks!
