Progressive 422 RAP
422 (RAP) ordered from Drew at Dr. V-Twin.
He's got a sweet deal on their price also.
He said he will have them in possibly by this Friday and I will have them by possibly next Wednesday. Hopefully I will have the time to install them that weekend with my Ricor Intiminators and I will report back to you guys.
Right now I'm going back and forth with the local H-D Service Rep.
I brought her in for the 1000mi. service. When I did this, I complained about the handlebars shaking a lot on deceleration from 45-40mph.
Anyways, When I call back the dealer, he tells me that everything was adjusted properly and the problem is my Memphis Shades Batwing that is on the front. (I knew I should have taken it off before bringing it in for servicing) I told him that it had the shake even before I put the fairing on, so that is not the problem.
I told him that I have read on the forums and other places on the internet that it is caused by the front steering head bearings that need to be tightened to spec. or it's the front tire cupping.
I had to tell him that the Batwing is easily detachable and to have one of the mechanics take it off and then take it out for a test ride.
Now is it me?.. As a customer, do I have to try to explain what the problem is and what the solution is to the service guy? or should the mechanic have known to do this?

Remove the batwing this time before you take it in and eliminate one thing they can blame it on.
Might even just take it somewhere and ask them to adjust your steering head bearing because you had the front end off and didn't adjust it correctly.
Then if it still does it you know that's not it.
I have no problems going to multiple different places... Put it on the trailer and take off!
