Ive been at it since Sept. when I got my first bike. And I probably won't stop until I complete my vision.
Ive made a few friends on here with the same passion as I have about transforming our deluxes into works of art. Seems like its pretty normal or I guess you can say Misery loves company. LOL. Either way, Im enjoying my new toy, riding, cleaning and working on it every chance I get. I even like comparing notes with some of the guys in here. Most of them are really cool and share their experiences and opinions on certain things that have really helped me create my ride.
But to answer your question more directly. YES, WE ARE ALL MESSED UP! But it feels pretty damn good doesnt it?
I must of googled, read, bookmarked, etc...thousands of pics and reads concerning what I want to do with my Lo in the past 6 months. I remember last year when I first bought it, thinking 'eh lil engine work and a few accessories only'....and a few of you snickered 'ya right'. Now I am looking at least $10k in engine work and candy when it's all said and done. Well there is an end to this madness soon (x's fingers)...I have sure flip flopped between ideas and concepts every week it seems. Bottom line once bought, I accept it and move on to next project without regrets kn0wing I did my best researching and piecing the puzzle with a few misses...I only have a couple parts wasted during this process....but everyday it seems I am closer to the final product and vision. And that is good thank gawd!!! End of the day I know my baby will be mine for years to come...and that is what counts.
Anyways, I am curious what I have and still going through is normal when it comes to evolving one's bike? I sure the hell hope so or call me mad! How many of ya went through the same madness?
Cheers!
The good thing is that when you're finally done, you'll just want another one. That's where I am right now. My Springer wants a playmate!
I've never heard of this happening before, are you sure you're not losing your mind? spending all kinds of money on motorcycles sounds very wasteful and being a bad steward of your money!! I know for a fact that nobody on this forum does that kind of thing. you might seek professional help, I myself am willing to help you spend your money wiser. I have this bike........
On the "Lo" thread, it is probably the norm. In the rest of the world or at least the world around me, probably not. Personally, I've met people who dumped money and then dumped even more money into their bikes. Then they sold their bike to help finance their next project. For them it was not about the ride (or perhaps, not even about the bike), it was about the build. The never ending project to keep tinkering with something.

Bro...you have a gold engine, this thread is your house. I feel bad I didnt wipe my feet before coming in...my bad
Persoanlly for me it's never ending and I am fine with that and in fact, I love it that way. I love riding but I love building, tweeking just as much if not more. It's like art to me, rolling art work! If thats crazy then call me crazy but I look at it like this. It's my scooter, my money so I will do as I please. Stop fretting it and jump all in and enjoy the ride. I don't know of many hobbies or lifestyles that are as rewarding or as much fun as riding and building Harleys, tjmo!!!
I keep trying to convince myself it is normal, my wife thinks otherwise. Even though she doesn't completely understand my obsession, she allows me to fullfil it.
I enjoy building & improving on all of my projects (toys). I start out with a vision in my head & work towards it until completed. Each one is unique in some way, shape or form than any other like it. The way I look at it is life is short, so enjoy it.
My Rocker will see some more changes before spring completing my vision.
The new truck will hit the asembly line on the 16th. I don't think I will be doing too much with it, just minor personal touches.
I think were all a little mod crazy in here, im guilty of going over board with mods but its what I love to do work on my toys and change them up. I do my own work witch save more money to pay for parts haha. I think if you want it and can afford it just go for it, I have two bikes and both are modded like crazy and there constantly in the works. I think I like to tinker just as much as I like to ride. So keep the mods coming.
Today I put on Galfer rotors/Pads... Ordered s&s Super Stocker Heads, and goin to my buddies speed shop to fab up the center stand that didn't fit when the company I ordered from said "it would!".
