Need help picking a Cam
Hello All,
So I have a 2010 96cube fatty that is stock other than airkit, pipes and tuner, and now I want to throw a cam in her.
I ride solo ALL the time and am looking for a lumpy idle and good low to mid pull. Not interested in high end speed.
There are so many choices it is making my head spin, so I am looking for opinions from those more educated that me.
Cheers
Mongrel

Asking that question here will only make your head spin even more, with all the different answers you'll get. The Wood 555 had about the best torque curve I could find for a bolt-in cam, so that's the one I went with and I wasn't disappointed.
I agree with the above opinion which said talk to Jamie at Fuel Moto. He won't steer you wrong and is a pleasure to do business with.

My pick would be R&R 525. I'm gonna do a 98" kit with this cam on my bagger someday.
Gotta finish my kitchen and bath remodel first.

The most imported part of you question, aside for the bike details is you riding style.
If you are not going to do more work in the future the the SE 204 is your best bet for low rpm grunt. It has a great sound (be sure to have them set the hot idle speed down the 900 or so) and pulls very strong from just off idle through to 3500 rpms.
That might be totally unacceptable to some riders, but for my style that is perfect.

Son and I have put cams in our last 4 bike and out of all the other cams I've heard in a 96'er. The best lope I've heard is the SE 204 that the son had them in His 07 Duece and 09 NT.
For a lighter bike ridden solo for someone wanting some lumps, it would be a great choice.. The cam will come on around 2700rpm really strong. He also got a lot better low end with His V&H's BR 2-2 than he did with the BSL's
We also have put in 26h's and S&S 551. They are good picks for cams also but don't have the lumpy Idle the 204's will give Ya.
U do know that there is a Thread on DYNO's here in the softail section. I started it 5yrs ago when I was going through the same problem U'r having now to help those who need it.
Just read and look at some the Sheets other member have posted and U'll learn alot. Its in the sticky area at the top of the Softails threads.
