Hey man you gave it a shot and it didn't work out no big deal. I have made a lot more expensive mod mistakes than that. But I would take it off if it were my bike.
When I 1st looked at it the very 1st thought I had was that it looked like a spider web and I am betting you were not going for that look. I agree it will look smokin when you get it to match your seat though. Here is a thought, can you take your seat with you so that they can see just what it is you are wanting? Maybe if they can see your seat they can knock it right out of the park for you!!!
This might be a repeat but here is my $.02. I think with you posting this you already have the answer to your question. I dont think it looks horrible but i would bet that you're not happy with it any more than a lot of us sticklers wouuld be. That being said if you arnt happy with it now your gonna fret over it, get pissed, and not like it more over time. It was a great idea that didnt make it to concept and thats not a bad thing that's just how we all learn. So, get a new bib thats blank and take that great same idea and match it to the seat to were they look like extensions of eachother. diamond size, perportion of the non stiched area tio the stiched area on the seat relative to the bib, etc.
I totally get where your coming from. I have no less than 4 seats for my Low Rider in the basement. It just ain't a thang. Not every mod comes out how you envisioned. I have swapped seats, bars, risers, pipes, wheels, colors, sissy bars and every other part on my bike multiple times. Many things take more than one try till your happy. If you dwell, you'll just **** yourself off. Since you now know what doesn't work, it will be that much easier to find what does, right.
My honest 1st reaction was that it looked like a ragged piece of ****. It looks especially bad next to that beautiful lepera seat. I understand your vision and think once you have a perfect match, then you will have one outstanding piece. Don't beat yourself up. I have at least 2 boxes of parts that didn't work out.
Not a fan of seat stitching 'cause it looks too busy & I like a smooth look, but I think the biggest problem is the space between the bib & seat. A bib should look like an extension of the seat, not a separate part. Also--bib hardware is too high;I think some flat chrome allens or round head screws would be less obtrusive.
