Default Bike finally registered tomorrow.

My bike is finally getting local registration tomorrow after a long process.
I bought a 2008 softail deluxe from a place in massachusetts in early October 2011. It might not seem much of a story, but i live in Australia. So it has been quite an experience from A - B. (15 weeks and over 10,000 miles)
So the process to date:
- Payment, international money transfer sorted
- arrange transport from massachusetts to LA
- utilise a Australian based importation company to sort all inspections etc
- 4 weeks at sea
- more customs, inspections, quarantine and fees
- transport to local compliance company located in the same state as the arrival port
- organise compliance and yet again more fees
- arrange transport delivery to me
- local road worthy (pink slip) done, more money
- and finally registration tomorrow. (more fees)

All made easy by the great businesses i used along the way.

And then i'm good to go.

Hey man, congrats on getting that bureaucratic red tape sorted! Had to go through that when I moved from the US to Europe ... what a hassle!

Hope they didn't make you replace too many parts or charged you through the nose on taxes and miscellaneous fees

Enjoy the bike! Guess I know what you are doing this weekend...

Price difference ... check out the prices in Australia!

A 2012 Softail Deluxe MSRP is AU$28,995 ... or around US$ 31,000 at todays rate

Sounds alot like buying a house (without the transportation part) you keep writing checks until there's no one left to pay. Now go out and spend some money on gas!!!! Congratulation!

Congratulations! Hope the bike works properly on the wrong side of the road! After all, it was made for a country where we drive on the Right. Have fun, and ride safe, mate!
