With my 09 Fatboy, I did SE Pro Performace Upgrade Kit #27544-10A. Bike rocks. Did not do any headworkl. 95.74 HP 102.39 TQ. Number are very close as to what Se catalog stated. Curious as to what I left on the table. Talked to delaer today. They quote $2,250 to port and polish head, bigger throttle body, etc. Gain about 10 HP. Obviously I am paying for labor again to tear the bike down, but damn thats alot of money for 10 HP. I screwed up by not doing it earlier, but as everone knows money dictates. I have the money, but **** 10 HP?
don't look at 10HP on a harley like you would look at 10HP on a car.. if you're making 95 horse now, another 10 is almost a 10% gain in power.. although, that is quite a bit of money
Why, do you want to race? Just kidding. Just looking for feedback as to is 10HP worth it now? It would have been about $1,100 more if I did it with the build last year.
Call up and talk to these guys. Dan is forum sponsor here, and is very knowledgable about all things go-fast for Harley's. If you can get the heads off and ship them, they will do better and cheaper work than just about anywhere else. He'll work with you on getting custom work done to fit your specific bike, too.
i wouldnt mind some head work, my bike around 95hp, nice to push it over a 100,i laugh at the racin for pinks bit!! need a hell of a lot more grunt then that to not get destroyed by a jappa!
With everything you have done and if you go ahead with the rest. I'm confused because that is pretty much what I have done to my 04 and I have 116 H.P. So I was wondering, where are they loosing all the power.
Head work is an awesome performance mod. 10 more ponny's is allot of ponny's on a Harley. I have a SE motor only a 95" kit with SE heads so that I could use the high compression pistons. I SO wish the head work was done then and when the bike was down. I have been told, I don't know this for fact, that head work is about the best performance mod one can do for their bikes. I have getting my heads done back on my list but it probably is going to be my next years winter mod list that it is on though. I know it is more money but we all seem to always find the money to get done what it is we want done. I think everyone on this site likes to do what they do or what they have done, done right and done the 1st time. As for the 2,250.00 though, that does seem pretty steep to me and again, I am no expert. I have been out asking questions and talking with my mechanic and my head work is going to be 550.00 plus his labor in taking it down and putting it back together so maybe a 1k, total? Maybe I am the one who is misinformed here with that price but that is what I have been told and quoted and my thoughts on head work.

Do you have a written quote/estimate from them for the mods.? If so, post up the specifics so we can give an accurate critique.
Just in parts for the head work, TB/intake, gaskets & materials, etc. can be pretty expensive. And like you said then there's the labor rate on top of that.
$1,200 for the headwork. $800 for the labor. They send them out to be done. New throttle body, gaskets, new rings and whatever else in parts needed. Just seems steep in my opinon. Should have done it when the motor was tore down the first time. Damnit!!
