Default My fender hole solution...

...until I see something I like better. I was walking around a nearby dealership today, and spotted this caliper insert trim piece made of chromed plastic.

I pulled all of the adhesive material off the back of it, and then hollowed out the underside with a dremel so that the edges set down closer to the fender. Got some adhesive magnet stuff from the home store, cut it into shape and stuck it onto the back, and there it is.

The magnet stuff doesn't seem to be holding it very securely, so we'll see whether it flies off on the freeway. I like the solo look, but want to be able to quickly switch back to the pillion if need be.

I could just throw a chrome acorn on there, with the help of some 1/4-20 rod and some adhesive to hold it in the acorn, but then you still have the bit of hardware underneath it - that black plastic ring, and it protrudes a bit.

Has anyone else come up with any good ways to trim this out?

When I had my Heritage, I had a custom piece made by Dennis at Top Down Products (forum sponsor)

Oh, that's to cover the plate holes? Cool. I'd want a Motorhead one.

You can also get a black plastic hole plug from Home Despot, not sure what size the pass seat bolt hole is, but 3/8" plugs fit the license plate holes

The problem is that its not just an empty hole. It has that bit of hardware mounted in it with the black plastic snap ring. I'm sure that if I remove that snap ring, the screw hole hardware will drop through to the floor, and I can't reach far enough up under the fender, with the tire there, to put it back.

The dealer gave me a little black plastic trim cap, but it would require removing that hardware, and then it would snap right into the hole. that would be a lot cleaner.

Oh, right. Forgot about that. I was thinking you had already solved that problem.
