Has apes which is what I want and has exhaust already done so I won't have that expense. It is also lowered and I like that. Engine is all black.
It's your money be shrewd but not a d!ck. According to some, some may disagree but modifications do not add value to bikes it can lessen its value. You may be able to start with that and ask them what the dealer offered them in trade. If you're a cash buyer and they have the title in hand you can deal, maybe they have a loan. Is it a dealership? Maybe you need financing? A lot of variables to make a good judgment but look at KBB, craigslist, eBay and the local dealers to devise your value and get as much off from their asking price.
GOOD LUCK

All very good points. I am looking at a bike owned by an individual. I agree that mods do nat really add value, however this bike has the mods that I would do so in that respect it will save me a bunch by not having to do it myself.
In addition, by buying private I will not have to pay taxes which is a big savings.
I was looking at used bikes when I was ready to buy. I called my father in law and was asking him about buying used and he told me this "you are buying someone else's problems". The X-Bones is a nice bike and you will be saving with the pre-exisitng mods but you do take the chance that the bike is wrong. Not saying that all used bikes are that way, cause they are certainly not, but if you can afford the extra 3-5 grand I would personally buy new.. Do they have any of the HD warranty left on the bike? Just a question..

No warranty. I love the springer, and a new softail with all the goodies would be 20k by time it's done with tax. 8,000 is a lot of money!
I have never bought anything but used, never had any problems. Meet the owner, see what kind of person they are, do they take care of their stuff? No need to buy new, not with so many good well taken care of bikes at amazing prices. People need to sell, you will be helping then. Good for everyone.
i bought a used sportster 3 years ago and a used softail last July and I never had any major problems with both bikes. just make sure you inspect it really good. find out if it's stored in an enclosed garage, how much owners before you, etc. don't jump the gun just because it has the "mods" you like. do your research and make a smart decision so you get a good running bike instead of a problematic one.
