Brake and shifter not wide enough, recommendations?
I just picked up an 04 Softail, I noticed when riding yesterday my knee was hitting off of the external K&N air filter and I was having a hard time reaching the brakes. I had to turn my ankle in and try to get a hold of the brake. Also noticed the shifter was a bit wide and required a similar reach.
Can anyone recommend an extension or a way to go about and make these easier to reach, the bike currently has the "zombie/Skull" theme going on (skulls). Would like to keep the same theme if I have to replace the current ones.
I'm a bit on the short side, only 5-6 and had a problem with getting to the brake also. The air filter keep getting in the way. I took the bike to a custom shop, they took a couple measurements and moves the brake peddle out about 2 inches so it's not behind the air filter any more. Looking at the work, I can't really tell any thing was done, but it made a world of difference.
Looking at the links Jester gave, some moves the peddle forward, others make the peddle an inch wider, I had mine moved 2 inches to the right. Depending on what you were looking for, your covered either way.

Thanks Joker, my air filter comes out to a 90 degree bend and has the filter with the Screaming eagle cover on it (cone shaped filter). I'm fairly new to HD, so excuse my terrible references. I just need the brake lever to extend out more, since I have to angle my foot funny to get around the air filter.
Hogpro, thanks, I'll check it out.
As far as the forum members page, I never saw those, I'll have to check those out.
Does this look right? Just want the brake pad and shifter to sit out another 1/2-1" so I don't have to twist my ankle to reach either or. Thanks all.
From what I'm understanding, you are wanting an extended shift peg and extended brake pedal pad, there are many companies making these. Try a google search for both of those and see if you can find anything that will flow with the skull/zombie theme, you might not get exactly skulls but something that can compliment them.
Thanks laid, just need the pedals to stick out more
(wider). I have a hard time reaching them since the intakes in the way. I thought the link above would be what I needed. Not to worried about getting the theme dead on, just want a more comfortable ride where I can reach each pedal.
