Well I am 6'2 and tried various types of bars and for me only Apes does the trick. I agree with most, it takes time to get use to if its new to you. Just spend some alone time with your new ride and you will both feel comfortable.

I found that every rider has a different comfort setting with Apes, some feel better with them forward, some feel better with them leveled with the forks and some pulled back.

So have a try in shifting them and see what suits you best, you may find your perfect comfort zone and never look back

JMHO, but I don't like apes on a big fat harley. Just looks out of place. IF you have the rest of the look (as does t stone), they're cool, but not on a stock bike. They just look tacked on. Same with drag bars on a fat harley.

JMHO, mind you, and we know what's that's worth...

Loved the look of my 07 Street Bob with mini-apes when I first got it. Hated riding it. For me the issue was comfort, not handling. I yanked them off and put a much flatter bar on. Now I'm happy and my shoulders don't hurt.

I have had all types of bars, I'm only 5' 7" and now I will have nothing but apes . I've ridden to Daytona and Panama city beach many times , bout 8 hrs from my house and apes are the most comfortable for me . I have 12" on 4" risers now , but have had 16" and 14" on shorter risers on other bikes . I think the key is not to get your hands to far above your shoulders . Drag bars my me feel like I was gonna fall over in slow tight turns such as in parking lots.

14" Gangsters mounted with piston risers, I think the overall rise is about 17.5". I'm 6'-0" and the grips are pretty much dead even with my shoulders. I might try pulling them back just a tad and see how they feel. I do totally agree, Doug. The stock bars were too low and had me hunching over a bit.

I just finish putting 16" gangsters on my Lo. It took a short ride to figure how to turn slow and tight but 1 week in and it is like they have been there the whole time i have had the bike. I would go with adjusting the bars back i have twice now to get the comfort right cause i have them pushed forward. As for the kite affect yeah it is there but only a little worse than with stock bars for me but i am a big guy so it always happens. In the end the bars have given me the added comfort i was after eliminate me locking my elbows to grab the stock bars and i should be able to ride longer and further.

The slow turns will be cake in no time.
But get on the highway and git her up to about 80, that may take some time to get used to.
