Default Frame decals or stickers

Has anybody removed the decals on the downtubes that have the bar code and serial number on the right side and bunch of writing on the left side..is it OK to do so?? my bike is an 08 and no longer under warrenty..the serial number is Clearly stamped in the frame at the neck..if so do they remove easily with heat??

Thanks

I'm going to do the same thing and have been wondering. I can't see why it would be an issue because like you said, the VIN is stamp right there on the neck. If you were going to strip your bike down to have the frame PCd or painted, you'd take'em off because if PCing the oven would cook them off. So I'm saying no issue!

Not a major issue in my opinion. However, be aware that there is some usuable data posted...even though hard to read. Can't tell what all but i know at least proper tire pressure for your bike is posted. At least it is on mine. Other than that...who knows. Shouldn't be hard to get off. I took it off my last bike but not this one.

Take them off....they stand out and look ugly. It's like driving a new car around with the window sticker still in place, or keeping all of the manufacturer's stickers on the front of appliances, electronics, etc.....

They peel off easily and all the information is located in the owner's manual. Peel them off and stick them on the inside cover of your manual if you want to keep them.

+1 to all above. Useless info, peeled them off with the reflectors a couple weeks after I bought it. Besides, you should always use the tire manufacturers recommendations on tire pressure, your frame has no idea what brand or size tires you are running!

the tire will give you the psi for max load rating, A tire has no idea how much your bike weighs

Tons of people remove the stickers and reflectors... go for it

True, max PSI is printed on the tire, but I didn't say to use the tire for pressure either. The tire manufacturer (usually on their website) has a recommended running PSI for your tire on your bike, and usually specifies a 1-up, 2-up, and 2-up heavy pressure. The recommended running pressure for my Metzlers is significantly different than the the Dunflops, and I'm now running a 150x16 on front as opposed to the stock 21" which also significantly affects what pressures I run. So you should go by the manufacturers recommended tire pressure, not the MAX PSI on the tire.

But I digress, back to the STICKERS discussion!!

I took mine off last year, why? Cause I wanted a cleaner look. And the vin is on the frame and the engine is stamped, so its not like the bike could ever get "lost"... JMO.
